Tower Bersama Delivers Humanitarian Aids for Earthquake Victims in Lombok

Lombok, 7 August 2018 - Stock exchange issuer PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk. ("TBIG") sent a humanitarian mission to ease the burden of the earthquake victims in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. Lombok was recently shaken by two major earthquakes that occurred on July 29 and August 5, 2018, each measuring 6.4 and 7 on the Richter scale which caused 102 people dead, hundreds injured and forced 5,000 people to flee to shelters provided by the government and non-governmental organizations.
According to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), after the earthquake that occurred on July 29, Lombok was again shaken by another earthquake with greater force. Thousands of houses reportedly collapsed and were heavily damaged.
To respond to this extraordinary condition, since August 2, 2018, TBIG has sent a humanitarian mission team in collaboration with the Filantra Foundation to help earthquake victims in four areas in Sembalun sub-district, East Lombok. The four areas are Sajang, Sambikelen, Sembalun Timur, Madayin and Blanting in Sambelia sub-district, East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.
Chief of Business Support Officer of TBIG Lie Si An explained that the assistance provided by delivering foods for refugees in shelters. "According to the on-the-ground team, the refugees need food supplies. We prioritize staple food assistance to help victims in the shelters" he explained. The distribution of food supplies such as rice, eggs and ready to eat food will focus-on shelters established by the government and community initiative.
Furthermore, Lie Si An explained that the Company also planned to provide assistance to repair public facilities in the disaster area. The survey team consisting of the CSR team, TBIG Bali Nusa Tenggara Regional Office, with the help from Filantra Foundation volunteer team identified the impacted areas that needed special attention.
"In the recovery phase, assistance will focus on restoring public facilities such as mosques and schools," Lie Si An explained.
