Employee Health and Well-Being
TBIG recognizes that the health and well-being of its employees and contractors is paramount to our success. The nature of our work, particularly tower construction and maintenance, presents inherent risks of serious injury, fatality and legal liabilities. Furthermore, neglecting employee health and wellbeing, both physical and mental, can lead to decreased productivity and higher absenteeism.
TBIG’s integrated management system encompasses Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (“QHSE”) procedures. It ensures safe and healthy working conditions for all employees, sub-contractors, and surrounding communities during tower construction activities. The group performs regular internal and external QHSE audits.
Beyond occupational safety, we recognize the vital role to safeguard the health and well-being of our employees to contribute to their performance in the workplace.
Employee Competency Training and Development
Given the rapid technological advancements in the telecommunications infrastructure industry, ongoing training is crucial for employees to stay updated on new technologies and best practices. The Company’s investment in training programs to enhance the skills and competencies of its workforce not only boosts operational efficiency but also improves job satisfaction and retention rates.
Empowering Local Communities
TBIG’s approach to its Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) Programs are divided into four key pillars. These pillars, informed by field surveys and socio-economic mapping, are reviewed annually to ensure their continued relevance and effectiveness in addressing the evolving needs of the targeted beneficiaries.
Education Pillar - Tower Bersama Group is committed to enhancing educational accessibility and quality within our local communities. A key initiative is our Leading Curriculum program, designed to equip vocational high school students with essential technical skills in telecommunications infrastructure.
Furthermore, our Employee Scholarship Program provided financial support to children of employees below the rank of Department Head, covering Elementary to Senior Hight School education levels.
Health Pillar - Since 2017, the Company has provided health services for communities around the telecommunication sites by deploying Mobile Health Clinics (“Monik”). This program has provided a way to give back to the communities who have supported TBIG’s operations. The Group currently operates six units of Monik TBIG which provide essential health services, including general medical care and specialized services for pregnant mothers, children, and the elderly via medical vans.
Culture Pillar - Since 2014, the Company has supported and grown Rumah Batik TBIG, or the TBIG Batik House. Rumah Batik TBIG was constructed in Wiradesa, Pekalongan, Central Java. TBIG Batik House’s mission is to preserve the batik nusantara (Indonesian batik) as a national heritage, as well as to improve the livelihoods of batik artisans in Pekalongan. The Rumah Batik TBIG program emphasizes inclusivity, with a specialized curriculum for students with disabilities.
Through strategic initiatives with fostered cooperatives, the Company has established a program for microentrepreneurs called Koperasi Jasa Bangun Bersama (“KBB”) which assists small and medium-scale batik artisans, chefs and other micro entrepreneurs with micro-capital and product distribution support. The business owners serve their local communities and produce a variety of products such as food items, garments and textiles. This collaboration aligns with TBIG’s CSR pillars of culture and education and focuses on preserving local heritage while supporting entrepreneurship.
Environment Pillar - Tower Bersama Group is dedicated to environmental stewardship through strategic initiatives, including the TBIG Heart reforestation program. In partnership with Perhutani KPH East Pekalongan, this program focuses on increasing carbon absorption within the Petung Kriyono Conservation Forest. Since its inception in 2018, employees have planted over 6,600 trees, absorbing 558 tCO2e annually
Additionally, TBIG integrates circular economy principles into its CSR initiatives through a unique upcycled product production program. By combining cultural and environmental pillars, TBIG collaborates with third parties to recycle plastic bottles into raw materials for Rumah Batik TBIG. students at Rumah Batik TBIG then transformed into diverse multifunctional products such as pouches and bags. Since its launch, 33,831 plastic (“PET”) bottles have been collected and 429 upcycled products have been successfully distributed to the market.
