Improving Vocational School Quality, TBIG Presents a More Structured Education-Industry Collaboration Model
Jakarta, November 14, 2025 - Vocational school alumni in Indonesia still face significant challenges in competing to enter the workforce. Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in 2024 shows that the highest unemployment rate in Indonesia according to education level comes from vocational school graduates, contributing to 9.01 percent. This high figure is influenced by various factors, one of which is the rapid development of technology in the workplace that is not matched by the readiness of educational infrastructure in many schools.
Seeing this, PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk (TBIG) organized an intensive industrial visit program throughout 2025 to strengthen the SMK's flagship curriculum, which has been implemented for several years.
Chief of Business Support Officer TBIG, Lie Si An, stated that industrial visits are the first step for schools to gain new knowledge in the telecommunications infrastructure sector. “This program is part of the flagship curriculum that we run to help vocational school graduates increase their chances of entering the workforce,” he explained, adding that the training and certification provided by the company is a form of recognition of real competence. “They are trained by experts from both inside and outside the company,” he added.
This was conveyed in conjunction with the Industrial Visits of SMKN 1 Jakarta and SMK Tarsisius Semarang to the TBIG Learning House, Karawaci, Tangerang, Banten on November 13 and 14, 2025.
Furthermore, Lie Si An explained that TBIG opens its doors wide for vocational schools to visit and gain knowledge at TBIG. “We are open and ready to share knowledge with vocational school teachers and young graduates across Indonesia,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, Deputy Principal of SMKN 11 Maret Jakarta, Taman Sastra Dikarna, S.Pd., expressed his appreciation to TBIG for the opportunity provided. "This activity serves as an important bridge between the world of education and the world of work. Through this visit, students gain a real picture of the application of network technology and telecommunications systems in industry. This is in line with our goal of preparing graduates who have the necessary skills, work ethic, and understanding of industry needs," he said while accompanying 120 of his students on an industrial visit to the TBIG Learning Center.
President Director of PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk, Herman Setya Budi, emphasized that education is one of the main pillars of TBIG's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. "Improving the quality of vocational school graduates is one of the keys to strengthening the readiness of Indonesia's workforce amid the acceleration of digital transformation. As a company at the heart of the telecommunications ecosystem, TBIG sees firsthand how industry needs continue to evolve. Therefore, through our CSR program, we not only share knowledge but also ensure that vocational school students and teachers understand the competency standards that are actually applied in the field. In this way, we hope that more vocational school graduates will be job-ready and able to contribute to national infrastructure development," he stated in a written statement.
