PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk (TBIG) Launches "Bersama Untuk Indonesia" Program to Combat Stunting in 3T Regions

Jakarta, September 13, 2024 - In response to the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) results showing that stunting remains a serious issue in Indonesia, with a prevalence of 21.5% among toddlers, PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk (TBIG) has taken the initiative to support the government’s efforts to reduce the stunting rate. The Indonesian government has set a target to lower the stunting rate to 14% as outlined in the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2020-2024, and TBIG is stepping up to help accelerate the achievement of this goal.

Through its social service activities under the tagline "Bersama Untuk Indonesia" (Together for Indonesia), TBIG has deployed medical personnel to 3T regions (frontier, underdeveloped, and outermost areas) and other regions with high stunting prevalence. A total of 21 locations across nine provinces—Papua, East Nusa Tenggara, Gorontalo, Lampung, North Sulawesi, West Sumatra, East Kalimantan, West Java, and Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam—have been targeted by this program, benefiting 2,100 people, including mothers and children, health workers, and families affected by stunting.

This program, which aligns with the directives of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, includes the provision of supplementary food (PMT), training for local health workers, and community assistance for a full month. Local health centers (Puskesmas) are also involved to ensure the program's sustainability and effectiveness in each implementation area.

Lie Si An, Chief Business Support Officer of TBIG, explained that this program aims to assist the government's and community's efforts in tackling stunting. “It takes collective action to overcome the stunting problem. With the rate being quite high, we, as citizens, feel called to act,” she said.

Lie Si An added that the philosophy of TBIG’s CSR is “Bersama untuk Indonesia,” reflecting the company's commitment to engaging various parties in the implementation of corporate social responsibility, especially in the fields of health, education, environment, and culture.

Herman Setya Budi, President Director of PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk, also emphasized that the company will continue to support the government and communities in addressing various social issues, particularly in TBIG's operational areas. “We will always be present alongside the government and communities to actively engage in addressing social issues. Our commitment extends not only to health but also to education, the environment, and culture,” he added.

Support for this program has also been positively received by local leaders. Mukhtar Jakup, the subdistrict head of Lhoknga in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, whose subdistrict was the latest target of this activity, expressed his appreciation for TBIG's initiative. “We are very grateful for the attention given. Even though we are far from the center, we are not overlooked by TBIG,” he said.

Similar sentiments were shared by Deby Persulessy, head of the Ebungfauw health center in Jayapura Regency, Papua. “The supplementary food aid, health services, and medicine from TBIG have been of great benefit to us in this remote area,” she said during a similar event in Homfolo village, Ebungfa district, Jayapura, Papua.
