To Enhance the Competencies of Vocational High School Students and Teachers, TBIG Holds Hands-On Training on Telecommunications Infrastructure and Fiber Optics
Jakarta, September 25, 2026 - PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk (TBIG) continues to strengthen its contribution to supporting vocational education in Indonesia by equipping vocational high school (SMK) students and teachers with skills relevant to the needs of the telecommunications industry.
A total of 54 participants—comprising students and 14 teachers from several vocational high schools in the Greater Jakarta area—took part in a training session on telecommunications infrastructure and fiber optics held at the TBIG Learning Center. The training combined theory with hands-on practice to provide participants with a more practical understanding of telecommunications technology and infrastructure.
This initiative is part of TBIG’s commitment through its “Education Pillar” CSR program, specifically to support the development of human resources in the field of vocational education. The training materials were designed to provide an overview of the technologies used in the industry while introducing the technical skills required in the workplace.
During the training, participants received instruction on telecommunications infrastructure and fiber-optic technology, ranging from an introduction to equipment, functions, and characteristics to the practical application of fiber optics. The hands-on approach gave students the opportunity to gain experience that closely mirrors real-world work conditions in the industry, while teachers gained additional insights to support the development of vocational education at the school.
Lie Si An, TBIG’s Chief of Business Support, said that the training is part of TBIG’s efforts to bridge the gap between the needs of the industry and what is taught in schools.
“We conduct this training on a regular basis as part of the Education Pillar of our CSR program. We want to give students the opportunity to gain firsthand experience with the technology and practices in the telecommunications industry. At the same time, we also involve teachers so that the knowledge gained can be brought back to the school and provide broader benefits for the students,” said Lie Si An.
According to him, the connection between industry and education is becoming increasingly important, particularly in vocational education, which has a strong focus on job readiness.
“Collaboration between industry and education is essential to ensure that the skills students learn remain relevant to industry developments. We hope that the experience gained through this training will equip students to prepare for the workforce, while also helping teachers enrich vocational education in schools,” he added.
The participants’ enthusiasm was also evident throughout the training. Suryo Nugroho, a teacher at SMK Negeri 26 Jakarta, said that the material and hands-on exercises provided an experience that could be used to support the learning process at school.
“This training was very helpful because it provided us with knowledge and practical experience related to telecommunications infrastructure and fiber optics that we can apply in our teaching at school.”
A similar sentiment was expressed by Rizki Mulya Maulidhan, one of the participating teachers from SMK Cyber Media Jakarta. “The material presented is highly relevant to the needs of the industry and provides new insights for both teachers and students, particularly in the fields of fiber optics and telecommunications,” he concluded during the training.
Through this program, TBIG continues to foster closer ties between the education sector and industry. Not only does TBIG equip students with knowledge and practical experience, but it also involves teachers as key partners in expanding the program’s benefits within the school community.
Moving forward, TBIG will continue to develop vocational education programs that provide learning experiences relevant to industry needs, while also supporting the improvement of human resources in the fields of telecommunications technology and infrastructure.
