Seriously Responding to Environmental Issues, TBIG Issues GHG Inventory Report (Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report)
Jakarta, 22 May 2023 – Extreme climate change has caused the climate crisis to become an increasingly serious world problem. Climate change has a negative impact on the balance of the environmental ecosystem. Mitigation efforts are also an important thing carried out by all parties, including the industrial sector.
PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk (TBIG) is committed to maintaining environmental sustainability. TBIG supports global missions through the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is in line with Presidential Decree No. 98 of 2021 concerning the implementation of carbon economic value for the achievement of nationally set contribution targets and the control of greenhouse gas emissions (Carbon dioxide [C02], Methane [CH4], Nitrous Oxide [N2O]).
TBIG is the only company in the field of telecommunications infrastructure that conducts a Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventory through ISO 14064. Through an international institution that has been certified, TBIG has gone through several stages of ISO 14064 verification. A series of calculation and measurement processes have been carried out from August 2022 to March 2023. Through this verification, TBIG can monitor the amount of GHG emissions arising from the company's activities, such as the calculation of emissions from employee official trips, tower construction transportation, electricity and generator usage data, and data on other activities that contribute to greenhouse gas emissions. In addition to carrying out a greenhouse gas inventory, TBIG is also committed to reducing emissions by planting trees on the company's CSR environmental pillar, TBIG Heart. Until 2022, TBIG has planted 4,000 trees in Pekalongan, Central Java.
Chief of Business Support of PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk., Lie Si An explained that TBIG pays great attention to environmental, sustainability and governance issues, he said. "Therefore, we are really carrying out initiatives in the field of the environment in a sustainable manner to realize this commitment," he explained.
By carrying out a series of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) inventories that are ISO 14064 standard, TBIG has a mission to continuously improve governance and determine the right strategy to be able to decarbonize Greenhouse Gas emissions.
President Director of PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk., Herman Setya Budi said that the implementation of the GHG Inventory Report will be the company's annual routine agenda. "This report has also been reviewed by independent parties. We have a strong commitment to carry out ESG well as a good corporate citizen," he said.
