BATANG, October 2, 2016 – PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk (“TBIG”) through its TBIG Batik House is campaigning for the use of natural materials, specifically coffee husk waste. The campaign and education on using coffee husk waste as a batik dye material were presented to visitors at the Batang Expo 2016, held by the Batang Regency Government in Central Java from September 29 to October 3, 2016.

The campaign and education efforts received support from the Batang Menyeduh coffee community. The TBIG Batik House team and Koperasi Bangun Bersama then demonstrated and provided training to visitors at the Batang Expo 2016.

Batang Regent Yoyok Riyo Sudibyo praised the efforts of the TBIG Batik House and the Batang Menyeduh coffee community for their campaign and training, aimed at promoting the region's economic potential. “The economic development of Batang will impact the economy of Central Java in the coming years,” said Yoyok in Batang on Sunday (10/2), adding that Batang Regency is ready to collaborate with various parties to build Batang.

As a region with a long history of plantations, Batang Regency also has leading potential from its plantation products, one of which is coffee. The coffee plantations in the area produce no less than 15 tons of coffee husk waste annually.

During its two-day participation in the event, the TBIG Batik House team demonstrated how to dye batik using coffee husk waste. TBIG Batik House's participation in the natural dye education activity is part of a program launched in the first quarter of 2016. Over the past six months, TBIG Batik House has successfully developed coffee husk waste as a natural dye for batik, collaborating with coffee communities and enthusiasts in Central Java.

TBIG Batik House is one of the four Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs of PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk, which includes Bangun Budaya Bersama (culture), Bangun Sehat Bersama (health), Bangun Cerdas Bersama (education), and Bangun Hijau Bersama (environment).

PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk President Director, Herman Setya Budi, said, “TBIG Batik House aims to provide guidance and empowerment so that micro-scale batik artisans can grow and develop. TBIG Batik House also strives to foster an entrepreneurial spirit in the community and among young micro-business entrepreneurs through Koperasi Bangun Bersama.”

The Museum of Indonesian Records (MURI) awarded PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk for the application of a new batik design based on the company logo for the TBIG batik motif and for the Highly Commended Program in the Telecommunications Category at the 2013 Asia Pacific Sabre Awards for the TBIG Batik program.
