TBIG Launches Batik Fashion Fellowship Scholarship with Indonesian Fashion Chamber (IFC)
Jakarta, July 14, 2025 - PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk (TBIG) announced a strategic partnership with the Indonesian Fashion Chamber (IFC) to implement the Young Batik Entrepreneurs Fashion Fellowship program. This program is part of TBIG's commitment to the CSR program “Bangun Budaya Bersama di Rumah Batik” (Building Culture Together at the Batik House) to support the regeneration and sustainability of batik culture in Pekalongan.
The Young Batik Entrepreneurs Fashion Fellowship program is specifically designed to enhance the creative skills of young batik artisans, enabling them to explore batik in line with both national and global market demands. Through this program, TBIG and IFC aim to cultivate creative, independent, and entrepreneurial batik industry practitioners while preserving the richness of cultural heritage in their work.
“The Indonesian Fashion Chamber is committed to supporting the government's vision of making Indonesia a global fashion hub through ready-to-wear craft fashion that blends local cultural values with modern design innovations. This collaboration with TBIG aligns with our mission to develop and promote Indonesian batik on the international stage,” said Taruna Kusmayadi, Advisor to the Indonesian Fashion Chamber.
This program is an extension of TBIG's ongoing efforts in Pekalongan through various training and mentoring programs aimed at enhancing the skills of local batik artisans. Pekalongan, as one of Indonesia's national batik centers, holds significant potential to be developed into a globally competitive hub for contemporary batik industry.
“Through this program, we hope to prepare the younger generation to compete in the international market, whether as designers, brand collaborators, or contemporary batik entrepreneurs. The impact we aim to achieve is the creation of modern Indonesian batik works that meet international standards while remaining deeply rooted in Indonesian cultural values and identity,” explained Lie Si An, Chief of Business Support Officer at TBIG.
Herman Setya Budi, President Director of TBIG, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in supporting the company's vision to contribute to sustainable development. “As a leading infrastructure company in Indonesia, TBIG has a responsibility not only to build physical infrastructure but also cultural and creative economic infrastructure. This Young Batik Entrepreneurs Fashion Fellowship program is our long-term investment in the future of Indonesia's batik industry,” he said.
This collaboration further strengthens TBIG's position as a company committed not only to telecommunications infrastructure business but also to sustainable development through cultural preservation and the development of local communities' creative economy.
