Tower Bersama Launches Carbon Footprint Reduction Program
Pekalongan, 21 September 2018 - PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk ("TBIG"), launched a program to reduce its carbon footprint on 21 September 2018 in the Petung Kriyono forest, Pekalongan, Central Java. The program, named TBIG Heart, is TBIG's CSR program in the environmental sector in the form of tree planting activities involving company employees. In addition to aiming to contribute to efforts to improve environmental quality, this program is also aimed at building and strengthening employee involvement in TBIG's CSR activities as an implementation of Corporate Share Value run by the company.
As an initial stage, the trees planted amounted to 311 trees consisting of quinine trees, resin and bamboo. The trees planted are obtained from employee donations and company funds. It was recorded that 35 company employees donated their Knowledge Management (KM) points to exchange for various types of trees that have been selected by the TBIG CSR Department based on the criteria of the plant's benefits for the natural and social environment. Considering that the planting area is also located not far from the residential area of the community around the Petung Kriyono forest.
Tree planting is carried out directly by employees who donate their points. The planting ceremony was witnessed by Chief Directorate of Business Support Lie Si An, Head of Corporate Services Department Tajudin and Head of Talent and Organization Development Department Dina P Adiana. After the planting process is completed, program participants are invited to enjoy the TBIG Cultural Nature tour package, a tour package developed by the Bangun Bersama Cooperative ("KBB"), a cooperative fostered by TBIG that serves batik MSMEs in the Pekalongan and Central Java regions.
During the tour package, program participants enjoyed several natural tourist attractions such as trekking to Bajing waterfall, culinary tours typical of the Pekalongan community and learning batik at the TBIG Batik House and educational tours regarding the development of the creative economy run by CSR TBiG. This program is planned to become a routine program of TBiG's CSR and is carried out every year.
Herman Setya Budi, president director of PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk, said that the carbon footprint reduction program carried out by involving the company's employees is a manifestation of the company's attention to the company's sustainable operations. "In the implementation of value-based CSR, we emphasize the importance of implementing Corporate Share Value. So that the implementation of CSR really meets the needs of stakeholders both inside and outside the company," he explained. Furthermore, it is explained that TBiG's CSR is directed to answer the needs of the company's stakeholders. "For us, social responsibility is something that is embedded in every work unit," he explained.
