Tower Bersama Supports 1,000 Vocational High School Students to Enhance Competitiveness in the Telecommunications Industry

Jakarta, October 9, 2024 – PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure Tbk (TBIG), through its CSR program, launched an initiative for training and workforce absorption for 1,000 Vocational High School (SMK) students across Indonesia. This program aims to improve the competencies of SMK graduates in fiber optics and help reduce the unemployment rate among SMK graduates, which, according to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in February 2024, reached 22.5%.

This training program is part of TBIG’s commitment to supporting education and workforce absorption, focusing on enhancing the competitiveness of SMK students in the telecommunications industry. "This initiative is a tangible manifestation of TBIG's moral commitment to supporting communities in our operational areas. Through the Bersama Untuk Indonesia program, we hope to make a significant positive impact," said Lie Si An, Chief Business Support Officer of TBIG.

The program consists of three phases: the first phase involves learning the concepts and theories related to telecommunications infrastructure (including fiber optics); the second phase includes field training in collaboration with industry partners; and in the third phase, graduates who pass the training will be directly recruited by TBIG's partners.

This program, which involves 25 vocational schools from various regions in Indonesia, comprises three stages: theoretical training on telecommunications infrastructure, field training with industry partners, and job placement for graduates who meet the qualifications. TBIG’s partners, consisting of 13 companies in the telecommunications sector, will help facilitate the placement of SMK graduates participating in this program. The regions involved in the program include North Sumatra, South Sumatra, Lampung, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, East Kalimantan, and Gorontalo.

Lie Si An also emphasized, "We hope this program can be a solution to address the high unemployment rate among SMK graduates. The ultimate goal is to assist the government in reducing open unemployment, especially among SMK graduates, and to enhance their competence in the workforce."

TBIG’s CSR program is supported by 13 industry partners, including PT Davon Media Teknologi, PT Raka Makmur Bersama, and PT Abimanyu Putra Pratama, who are collaborating to provide training and job absorption. Indri Wijasari, Head of Human Resources at PT Ciptajaya Sejahtera Abadi, stated, "This training greatly assists us in acquiring skilled human resources that match our operational needs. It simplifies our recruitment process for new employees."

Herman Setya Budi, President Director of TBIG, hopes that this program can be a meaningful starting point for SMK students in securing jobs that match their competencies. "We want to see SMK graduates compete in the workforce while also helping the government reduce unemployment in Indonesia," he said.

Through this program, TBIG demonstrates its strong commitment to supporting social and educational aspects, in line with the company's implementation of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) principles.
